07.16.13Somerville's Sara Oettinger to appear in 'The Pirates of Penzance'
Somerville resident Sara Oettinger will appear as "Edith" in South Shore Conservatory's Evenings Under the Stars performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's hilarious The Pirates of Penzance on July 27 at 7 pm.
Evenings Under the Stars is one of three series in the Conservatory's diverse Summer Spotlight outdoor summer entertainment. Summer Spotlight also includes fun Wacky Wednesdays family concerts, and Berklee Stars at SSC, a Friday night series featuring the talents of Berklee College of Music's most promising solo musicians and bands.
05.09.12Concerts celebrate chorus' anniversary
Accompanying the chorus will be classical singer Sara Oettinger, flutist Beth Kupsko, harpist Vonda Darr and fiddler Samuel Overman.
The celebration concludes with a recital at 2:30 p.m. May 20 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 301 Circle Drive, Rocky Mount. Oettinger, a former member of the chorus and an aspiring opera singer, will perform a program of songs and arias, including "VIssi d’arte" from “Tosca" by Puccini, selections from Barber’s “Hermit Songs" and the Moses Hogan arrangements of the spirituals “Deep River" and “Give Me Jesus."
